The Gainsborough Model was a brief provided to us by an external client to the University, Sortified. In order to produce a model to accompany their written report as well as a presentation, which would be submitted to the Government in order to apply for the grant programme called Local Access. Gainsborough was successful in their application and gained £33 million alongside Bradford, Bristol, Greater Manchester, Hartlepool, Redcar & Cleveland and Southwark.
Within the model we were asked to show important places within Gainsborough, the deprivation levels within the town, the factual history of the town as well as the anecdotal history of the town.
Working alongside a team of 4 others, we developed a model which would include a draw for the report as well as a compartment for the projector to project from. Starting with an intial concept and then finalising it.
The final model was a draw with the compartment for the projector, along the sides was a history timeline of the town. On the top of the draw is a map of gainsborough with acrylic symbols showing the important locations and acrylic layers showing the deprivation levels within the town. As well as quotes to show off the anecdotal history.
